Young Scholars for Collaborative Academe

 in International Perspective.

A Journal for Junior Scholarship in the Arts and Sciences

Important Notice

Pompeii is not currently accepting new paper submissions as we have entered an indefinite hiatus.

We will return to accepting submissions in the foreseeable future, with a new and enlarged team and some institutional support.

All previous publications remain available for public access on this site for the time being.

"Like the historic Pompeii was preserved after the Vesuvius  erupted, the journal Pompeii  represents the meeting of the wisdom of academe with the new energies of the next generation of scholars (i.e. like tourists who visit the archeological site). It is hard to articulate, but that is how I think of the task we face."
     - Jonathan Anuik, member of the Pompeii Editorial Board

"Pompeii is a gesture. A gesture of preservation,  renewal, and celebration of the powers of the mind."
     - Alexander Stingl, Pompeii Editor

Mission Statement:

It is a fact, it is increasingly difficult for junior scholars to be published in academic journals, the necessary step towards a successful career in the academic world. At the same time, the internet provides various opportunities to "just publish" any kind of unsolicited and non-reviewed opinion piece. Our mission is, therefore, to help junior scholars publish and promote their research and ideas in a forum that guarantees quality and proper review.

To allow for a wide thematic scope of publications, we have structured the journal into streams. Additionally, we consider the publication of photo-essays, posters, and video-documentaries.

We encourage contributions in English. However, we accept contributions in German, Spanish, French, Italian, and Dutch.

We are always looking for more peer-reviewers.
